Obedience Training

Back by popular demand! Rylee and Bre are excited to start back up with our on lead training program. At The Kennels at Gum Gully,  we believe obedience is the foundation to a respectful and loving relationship with you and your dog. Without foundational obedience skills, we feel that you and your dog miss out on so much opportunity to truly live life to the fullest with one another. Our obedience program has been highly successful, and a true joy. An evaluation may be required to reserve a spot in the program. Please call the office and ask to speak to or leave a message for Rylee or Bre to discuss training opportunities. We are currently focusing on small working breeds or larger dogs. Small, low-drive, companion breeds are not our specialty.

Obedience

 

On-Leash Obedience Training


Build better manners, clearer communication, and a more enjoyable relationship with your dog.

The Kennels at Gum Gully is now offering basic on-leash obedience training for dogs needing a solid foundation in everyday manners. Our training focuses on practical skills that help make your dog easier and more enjoyable to handle at home and in public.


Training May Include:

  • Sit
  • Down
  • Stay
  • Come/ Here
  • Heel / proper leash walking
  • Place
  • Door and gate manners
  • Waiting calmly
  • Basic impulse control
  • Handler focus and engagement
  • General leash manners
  • Introduction to the e-collar if requested or recommended


Training is tailored to each dog's experience, temperament, and needs. Our goal is to create clear, reliable basic obedience while giving owners a foundation they can continue reinforcing at home.


Who Is This Program For?

This program is designed for medium and large breed dogs needing basic on-leash obedience, better manners, or a refresher on previously learned commands.

At this time, we are not accepting small companion dogs for obedience training.

This is a basic obedience program and is not intended for severe aggression, significant behavioral modification, or specialized training needs. If you have this need we are happy to recommend other programs in our area for your dog. Dogs will be evaluated during a scheduled daycare day Monday-Friday to make sure our program is a good fit.


A Better Dog Starts With the Basics

Whether you have a young dog that needs a solid start or an adult dog that could use better manners, we'll focus on practical obedience you can actually use in everyday life.

Pricing & Scheduling

Dogs enrolled in training are with us for 35 days. The total price is $1,600, this includes a basic indoor kennel. Your kennel may be upgraded if you wish! This does not include  training tools we may recommend you have at home such as a slip lead, prong collar, lead, place board, etc. We can recommend our favorite items and also have them for sale in the kennel.


Family training sessions can be booked after your dog has been with us for 10 days. These sessions are available Monday-Friday. Saturday sessions by request and must be discussed/scheduled at enrollment.

Rylee

Hello! My name is Rylee. I have worked at The Kennels at Gum Gully for just over 3 years. I previously trained dogs alongside Lauren learning the ins and outs from her. I am excited to bring back and manage the training program along side Bre starting in the fall of 2026. I look forward to growing alongside you and your dog as we help your dog become the best version of itself!

Bre

Hey! I am Bre! I have worked at The Kennels at Gum Gully for almost 2 years gaining hands-on experience working with dogs of all personalities and needs. I am a proud dog mom to two of my own dogs, Diesel and Cowboy. I am excited to continue my experience training alongside Rylee with Lauren's oversight and helping you build a stronger relationship with your dog through training!
